Keep Calm and Build On

Rammaya Ramtel, 35 and her 98 year old grandmother-in-law, Putali Bisunkhe, are extremely excited with their upcoming quake-resistant wall-system brick house in Battase village.

Since the earthquake in 2015, thousands of collapsed houses remain desolate.

There are still many survivors who live in insecure tin shelters 5 years on. After completing 220 houses last year, we have begun Phase Two: 300 houses for the poorest of the poor. Inspite of COVID-19 lockdown, 11 houses are nearing completion in Ojethar village, 30 houses in Batase and 14 in Buddhakani are in progress.

“With a house, I have hope again.”

Each 32 sqm 2-room house cost just SGD 3,000 to build. We have raised SGD 450,000 and need another SGD 550,000 to hit our target of 300 houses. Any amount is welcome.
